Welcome to the home page of New Jersey Wing’s Cape May County Composite Squadron. Please feel free to browse our site to become familiar with the missions Civil Air Patrol performs in service to our community, state and nation as the Official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

Cape May Squadron meets every Thursday night at the Cape May Airport (KWWD), 251 Ranger Road, Dune Tech Building No. 9. Doors open at 1845 hrs. (6:45 p.m.), and opening formation is at 1900 hrs (7:00pm). Meetings usually close at 2100 hrs (9:00pm).

Civil Air Patrol has volunteers for people from all backgrounds and ages. You don’t need to be a pilot or a member of the Armed Forces (though pilots and veterans are absolutely welcomed to share their experience). CAP volunteers can be teachers, medical professionals, public employees, engineers, machinists, truck drivers, business people, and really anyone over the age of 18. Under 18? Check out our Cadet Program!

OUR MISSIONS

C
AP maintains both internal and external Aerospace Education programs. CAP members, both adults and cadets, follow a rigorous program to learn about aviation and aerospace principles. CAP also reaches out to the general public through a special program for teachers at all grade levels. Through this program, CAP provides free classroom materials and lesson plans for aerospace education and each year sponsors the premier national conference in this field.

CAP’s Cadet Program trains young men and women in teamwork, moral leadership, aerospace education, technical skills to support emergency services, and military history and customs. Through national encampments, a college and flight training scholarship program, and the International Air Cadet Exchange, CAP cadets broaden their horizons, learn to assume responsibility, feel self-confidence and set goals for their lives.

Best known for its members’ work in Search and Rescue and Disaster Relief missions, CAP is expanding its role in the 21st century to include an increasing number of Homeland Security operations and exercises. CAP also performs Counterdrug Reconnaissance Missions at the request of law enforcement agencies and can do radiological monitoring and damage assessment. CAP members undergo rigorous training to perform these missions safely and cost-effectively.
